Project 2: Working with Labels and Annotation

Project # 2 allowed our class to learn about labeling and annotation in ArcMap. We all started with the same base map we clipped down to the WNC area. We were supposed make all layers of about equal importance without emphasizing one layer or their labels much more than the others.
The map above is my final work.

This was before converting to annotation

This map was straight up dynamically labeled features

  1. Your county names seem to look cramped. Try using the character spacing to spread the letters a bit. A setting of 5 or 6 might make a big difference.

Good choice of colors for the background of the legend and title. It sets them apart without being too overpowering.

  2. I like your color scheme. Your counties look like they could be placed away from other features to make reading them a bit easier. Also I feel that you could label some more of the major roads or towns.
